Ayla + Clinton

What I love about Ayla and Clinton is that as much as they love to take the mickey, joke around and both share a wild sense humour, they really just absolutely adore and f***ing love each other. This made for a really cool ceremony that had a stack of fun and crowd engaging moments but some real emotional moments, the moment that you feel the silence, the hairs stand up and it’s just beautiful. Both the words and the visuals.
Clinton showed a stack of emotion just as the words begun and Ayla appeared. Now I generally like to stay out of shot but it was nice to pop in and offer a reassuring tap on the shoulder.
Ayla and Clinton included plenty of authentic moments including photos with the very furry friend Frankie, a private cake cut, sparkler ENTRANCE and just being all round legends.
Here’s their opening story and a sweet top 5 favourite things:
“What’s up tiger king, we should get a beer sometime?”
This is the infamous line that Clinton first used to woo Ayla.
Ayla replied favourably with a “yeah for sure”
Clinton mashed the key pad with a giant thumbs up emoji, immediately regretting his decision and decided there was no recovering from that interaction and left the conversation.
Ayla and Clinton never did get that beer.
Before we proceed into this marriage and your story, we’re going to replicate then rectify this situation.
(Clinton and Ayla proceed to share a beer together - ceremony continues)
It took many, many months for the conversation to begin again and the two organised to meet, to go bowling.
Things progressed to golf trips, a ghost tour and some beer and burger arrangements. After one such dinner, Ayla moved in for a hug, ok maybe a quick kiss, Clinton panicked and responded with a super awkward handshake.
Ayla’s first impressions of Clinton were that he was quiet, funny, wholesome, a little nervous but someone that she loved spending time with.
Whilst Clinton’s first impressions of Ayla were she was pure chaos yet had the ability to light up any room that she entered, he immediately felt at ease, comfortable and that she was where he needed to be, she felt like home.
When I asked both Ayla and Clinton to share some nice things about each other, they both presented a 1 to 5 list.
We’ll begin with Clintons reasons as to why he loves Ayla, this is the exact order.
Number 1 – She is my best friend.
Number 2 – Ayla makes him laugh every day without fail.
Number 3 – How easily distracted Ayla can get and her side quests. Clinton mentions life is never boring with Ayla around but it really can feel like herding cats some days.
Number 4 – and this may be controversial – Her cooking. (pause) Clinton mentioned Ayla will suggest this should have been higher on the list.
And finally number 5 – Ayla’s ability to be unapologetically herself. He loves this quality in you and how this confidence has rubbed off on him.
Now, I love to ask this question of all my couples. I must say this may the first time I’ve received a sold 1 to 5 list. So I’ll now share Ayla’s top 5.
Number 1 – Clinton is risk adverse. Ayla is thankful daily for this and your cautious approach because one of you in the relationship needs to be.
Number 2 – How kind and thoughtful you are. You are a great listener and forever supportive, this may be just having a chat after a long day, bringing home surprise snacks or just ready with a hug and a deep glass of wine. You always hit the nail on the head.
Number 3 – You’re ticklish. That’s it.
Number 4 - You are insanely logical. This drives Ayla nuts but she always, begrudgingly appreciates your conversations, solutions, and practicality.
And finally number 5 – The most loving person. It may just be a quick kiss or meeting up for lunch or just trying to better yourself so you can be a better partner.”
Thanks Ayla and Clinton for having me as your celebrant and sticking around to share a few words as your MC.
