An + Emerson

An and Emerson’s ceremony was breathtakingly beautiful. The emotion and connection they share with each other was beyond describable. Pops of colour were everywhere; love was thick in the air and the vows were timeless. A truly special ceremony to be apart of.

My recollections of a beautiful day:

Rain, and lot’s of it was forecast for An and Emerson’s ceremony. It poured down in the morning. Rain on your wedding day, good luck right;).

Preparations were made but just as a classic October day, the sun shone through and produced a beautiful golden ceremony and post ceremony photos.

An and Emerson arrived together, relaxed but excited to get into the ceremony. They parted ways, I introduced Emerson and his wedding party and the crowd were excited by the “paparazzi 30 seconds”, an opportunity for guests to come forward to take some photos of the couple once they are at the altar.

Another cool conversation was with An’s Mum Anh, who was to walk An down the aisle along with Dad Thanh. Mum was a little nervous, but very excited to be asked by An, something she wasn’t expecting at all. These little conversations are always so special.

The tears started from the moment An arrived at the altar, halted briefly as we shared some stories about the malls balls, gentle let downs, a surprise birthday appearance, a gin engagement and some happy chilli crab then the tears flowed for their timeless vows. A real highlight, a single tear visibly falling to An’s arm, both pausing to soak in the moment and Emerson wiping the tear away (cue everyone bawling and a celebrant holding his heart). Oh my goodness, the beauty of love has no limits.

A quick little trick from An’s brother the ring bearer, some light hearted ring promises and a kiss that stole the show.

We ducked off to sign the certificates, laughed a little, received some compliments for my pen and returned to a bubbly exit that Emerson’s younger sister announced them back down the aisle. If you want a personal exit, let’s tee it up and someone close to you can have the honours!

The sun danced on the trees' in Veale Gardens post ceremony before An and Emerson head off to Eos to dance the night away.

Here’s an excerpt from An and Emerson’s script:

“Our story begins with two teenagers, a whole lot of awkward Facebook pokes, social media conversations, a pouty snapchat, a school formal and eventually a first hang out, not a date, to the movies.

Unfortunately, none of these early messages will ever see the light of day again but Emerson and An both shared a little bit about their first meeting.

The pair arranged to meet up in Rundle Mall before heading to a screening of The Hobbit.

Emerson arrived early and thought he would surprise An.

The plan was to stand off to the side of the malls balls and greet An with some enthusiasm.

The problem being that An arrived from the opposite direction, surprising Emerson and An a little perplexed to as his location, getting straight to the point and asking “why are you standing next to the bin?”

An’s first impressions of Emerson were that she found him to be a very genuine, sincere and gentle soul, he was kind, wholesome but goofy as heck, as proven by the mall’s ball slash bin incident.

Whilst Emerson’s first impressions of An were she was gorgeous, quick witted, displayed a real vest for life and it didn’t take long for him to feel those special hand holding butterflies, the same ones I’m sure they will share many times over today.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing however, Emerson thought things were going well and one night, plucked up the courage over the phone to make things official.

Emersons describes that in this moment his heart is racing, sweat dripping down his brow, anxiety ridden and stumbling through his words, Emerson eventually put together enough of a sentence to ask An to be his girlfriend.

Now, as we stand here today, An and Emerson are due to be married, we should expect that a simple yes was the only answer.

Well.

As An put it, she was being a good student, study was her main priority and promises she let Emerson down gently.

Kinda.

The 5 word sentence An used to gently let Emerson down.. “Sorry, I’m busy this year”

Thankfully, it didn’t take long for both parties to realise that this friendship was much more than just that and a second question led to a yes and An revealed she is forever grateful for a second chance.”
